Desperation is the energy you choose

to live your life to its near-fullest

I see right through the bullshit 

lies you tell yourself everyday

when the moment to turn inward 

becomes a knife stabbing at you, 

slashing your throat,

I see you reach for the only play-book 

you carry, a formula you crafted years ago, 

a formula of desperation, reaching outward 

for recognition, validation, 

it begs at you to release it. 

What seethes in you, bites you and 

you deflate into a plastic bag, 

flaccid, loose, flapping, 

pleading for attention

to be seen, to be heard, to be filled, 

to be loved, ugh! 

It’s diseasing your mind! 

Infest your heart with courage 

to reach beyond the baggage, 

load-up on silence

and release into the wind! 

Fill-up with a heart full and solid 

in courage, to see 

beyond the formula you crafted 

of desperation and disparage.

The moon

A bone 

A gash

A dry riverbed

It’s inconsequential

They say

Here to

There to

Where to

No too 

No two are the same

They say

Grass 

Fever

Sleep 

The day away

Forever and a day

They say

Wind

Hot

Sun

Parched bare naked death!

It’s inconsequential

They say.

somewhere in this

disassembled moment

I forget

how the sun rises

and how the moon 

swaddles the night

just so

holding it

in its swooning 

embryonic gaze

frozen in 

a new lunar phase

I admit

I was lost by 

the assemblage

of the greats

nomadic Gods

with no doubt 

and little room left

to wander in regret

I forget how 

the day begins

and then ends 

with the light 

of great minds 

with tiny thoughts.

Sop and sweet

Tea, on my breath

A side of Peach 

Lolli 

Pop On a stick 

Between

Your teeth

You smile 

Deep

Regret lingers

In the leaves

At the bottom

Of my tea

Cup, a solemn

Reprieve

Left inside 

A lost

Beginning

A chance of

Meetings

Always with

Tea and me

And Lolli

Hanging 

Mercilessly

Between your

Tattered

Broken teeth.

i’m a man of 

little words

and big ways

i live large 

in a small 

space

give me silence

yet hear me 

scream

i fit well into

no man’s land

go to battle

with a close fisted

hand

swinging backward

towards

a violent past

in my dreams

i wrestle demons

and,

wake up to 

battle

all over 

again.
