Eudocimus albus

A pair of white ibis in the marsh.

I walk the day

into the night

The white ibis

they bicker

they fight

over there

on the grass

no food left-

under beak

nor brush, or

feathers fluff

ibis wings flutter

amass, pecking

at the withered

grass

order is lost

to chaos and

sass,

Eudocimus albus-

curved swords

clash, thrash

gnash at each

billed beak,

like hurricanes

they pass, to waves

that wade in high tides

and dry grass.

Very good. A flattering, feisty poem for the wonderful ibis.

We have a bird sanctuary called Pensthorpe here. They have a flock in a caged enclosure. You can go in to see and photograph them. I go in they all start trying to eat my shoes! So, I know what you mean about feisty!

Haha πŸ˜† that’s funny. Living here in Sarasota is like a big bird sanctuary, I love to see the unique variety here.

That sounds wonderful. We have a large variety here but most small birds unless you can get to a lake. I love being out and surrounded by nature and wildlife.
