A poem to honor my best friend’s mother who left us last month-
A legend has left us today-
she, they, came when we didn’t exist
birthed us into this
and now they left,
took leave, deceased,
a mother of the world,
in grace she leaves
plenty of her, many of her,
never will be
again, as they take leave.
A mother where none can be found
she shrouds blankets on shoulders
without doubts
or second thoughts,
in their home from their streets
they legend a story without
a plot, it takes shape without a thought,
an era to a door – to– an era to a door.
A legend takes leave
from a close-knit core, from a Main Street
corridor, in a town still small, sprawl at bay
still.
A legend takes leave today-
as heaven opens its door,
for one more.
