Loser’s Don’t Win

black and white photo of woman with motorcycle helmet

Loser’s don’t win

they give up

Life’s breath leaves

almost completely

their bodies

Frail slugs with

bulging eyes

choking

while others sing

passing them by

not noticing

Their withering bodies

lying about, left out

of life’s din

Loser’s don’t win

they give up

While the night’s blanket falls

on the hurried and the tall

the small withering slugs

attempt to crawl

crawl from their

hidden places

Faces gone

Silence

switching places

with life’s loud

booming greatness

Small blobs of flesh

eke out of their

tiny spaces

Looking for morsels

some kind

of energy

Left by the brave

to feed their

formless bodies

Hiding under darkness

unnoticed by the

superior races

Enchanted

by the slime

they’ve left behind

Unwilling to embrace

their destiny

Shriveled by

salty dust thrown

at their frail ego’s

by one of them

The Superior Beings

Loser’s don’t win

they give up.
