I had a tough time initially with this pandemic as far as masks and their appearance. Should they really be a fashion piece? Was I comfortable with a medical mask that is meant to protect us, and others, from a potentially deadly virus becoming an accessory item?
No, I wasn’t.
I wanted it to be a statement, that this is serious business (and it is) and we shouldn’t get comfortable with Covid-19; and EVERYONE should take it seriously and remember to be very careful when we are out in public, or visiting loved ones. Medical masks it was!
It really was my wife who insisted, that if she was going to have to wear a mask for a long time, she wanted it to look good. She wanted the mask to fit into her work attire and daily fashion decisions; or at least be somewhat fashionable. Traditional medical style masks, or even the black fabric masks weren’t going to cut it for her. Even though black is a “thing” for her, being a transplanted New Yorker, living in Sarasota, Florida.
So, I heard her and thought she had a good point. I decided to give it a go and select some ArtDesigns from my Art Shop to display on face masks. I hope you like the selection; and if you see another piece of artwork in my shop you would like to have on a mask, hit me up and I’ll create a special one just for you!

These are oil pastels of Florida Palm trees here in Sarasota, done on watercolor paper.
I created them in a collage, print format, ready to hang with your choice of color and sizes.
Also available are these fun little desktop stand up frames.
Brighten up your work area or any place in your home with unique one of a kind artwork by ArtDesigns.

the name is derived from my technique of literally smashing the little bits of oil pastel I had left onto watercolor paper and building my imagery from there.
The end result is abstract expressionism with a colorful and dynamic movement in a small space.

Along with other print choices and frames my original painting “Sunburst” designed into a quad collage is available in several options. Check the choices in my Art Shop

This is a collage layout of my oil painting, Heart.
It is available in prints- framed or unframed, canvas prints, or on a unique metal print in different sizes.

I was once told by a very wise older artist, that every painting you create is a self-portrait. That moment struck a profound feeling in my young mind at the time and has stuck with me ever since. I discovered the connection to my soul as a painter in those early days and have never looked back.

Dog lover’s you will dig this abstract oil pastel of my chocolate lab Khalil, frolicking in the park. Available prints in my Art Shop

An Oil Pastel I created during sunset here in Sarasota, Florida. The unique tropical foliage and warm vibrant atmosphere, evokes an other worldly and abstract atmosphere with rich vibrant colors in this oil Pastel.

This original piece “Storm Brewing at Dusk” is an ArtDesign I created, based off of my acrylic painting called “Dusk”. It is available for purchase in your choice of frame, in my Society6 Art Shop.
As an artist, I create visual art that is abstract expressionist in form; and is inspired by my love of color and nature. My internal response to the world, and the landscapes that surround me, create the mood and atmosphere in my paintings.
I am fascinated by the supernatural, and feel I am forever reaching a hand out to capture the mystery of this world. The supernatural emerges in my work in ethereal depictions of “spiritual” landscapes and abstract images.
I find this kind of internal voyage compelling and it drives me to further explore and create these images.
I hope you enjoy the experience of what I create and would love to hear from you!

But please feel free to shop around for some other great framed art, canvases, and select cool products. All of the work is original, designed and created by me from either paintings or pastels.

It is that time of year in Florida where it’s hard to grow anything because the sun is so blazing hot!
So, we will fair well with our local Whole Foods Market and some conventional veggie stands for now.
This week I made a purchase at the homemade pasta and pizza booth (Peperonata Pasta). I bought some homemade Porcini Mushroom Ravioli, yum! They had some beautiful looking pizza crusts and focaccia I’ll try next time.
Next we headed over to the bread booth where we bought a lovely sandwich loaf that was a mix of Sourdough, Rye and Wheat. It has the perfect crust and flavor, especially when you toast it!
Also at this booth a nice woman named Gail was selling some of her relishes and jams, alongside of some luscious and fruity bottles of artisan olive oils.
The Sweet Green Tomato Relish was delightful.
What a nice variety of jams she made.
Olive oil, next time for sure!
I know… you’re wondering WHAT the surprise is I was talking about this week!!
Drumroll please…..
An Arts and Crafts Market right next to the Farmer’s Market!! Woo hoo! Two of my favorite things at once!
Colorful handblown glass bubbles.
My fiancée knows this puppeteer “Doc” who set up his “Lions, Tigers, and Bears productions” stage on the back of his bicycle, very cool!
Doc hand carves amazing puppets! This is one snazzy cat puppet, playing a piano he made as well. Bravo!
Below is the side view of the stage and bike.
We thought this gentleman made some nice looking tee shirts by hand, cutting different fabrics and making one of a kind images with the cut up pieces.
This guy was pretty sweet too!
Mr. Panda, what a face, he’s a beautiful sculpture.
“Waters Edge Studios” had beautiful copper and glass sculptures by, Terry Andrews.
This booth had glass vases as well as some very cool fake food art by “The Frozen Moments”
These Pet-it Fours looked so real you wanted to gobble them up, I actually had to double-check to see if they were real!
Fake cupcakes and chocolates.
Chocolate cake with fake strawberries too!
Huge flower-pot!
Next we spotted a large hand carved gator lying in the street!
We got closer…
C’mon it is Florida after all, gotta have a gator…oh and some tropical birds as well!
This Old Salty Dog in the background of the photo below, made these two out of metal, stunning in person!
ARRrrrgghhh!!!
These were full size Pirate metal sculptures, simply awesome and also very Florida!
What a great morning, and a great surprise – two markets in one today!!
We were pooped and HOT, after a long, but fantastic Saturday at the Farmer’s/Art market. We ended the morning with some chilled black and green Mint tea and some organic watermelon, from our favorite Worden’s Farm booth, of course!!
Yum Food!! Yum Art!!
