PTSD

Photo of a man holding his hand over his face with smoke

I play with words

Like you play

With dope

Encased

Enshrined

In your veins

Like fine wine

Hard times

Hard lines

Forgotten Boys

With Traumatized

minds

Words like dope

Soothe PTSD

Laced

Hard tight

Tidy white

Wraps the pages

of your life

unsatisfied

On the run

Seeking

Overrun, overthere

Flagrant guns

Shot in the arms

The head

The drugged-out son

Laid out flat

I play with

Words to

Forget

that day

late I left

I sat, I shat

I ran from that

the Pain

it came

After all you left

undone, insane

PTSD

it came

for me

like you

it rained

sopping

my lap

like drowning

in sap

no doubt it came

it came

the pain

the words like

needles injected

the high, the rush

I slam the door

I shut down

I Hush

Emotion

denied

I get high

Words of poets

Continue to light

the page, the night

unturned, I get

high, so high

I play with words

Like you play

With dope

it’s my

only hope.
