Point of Reference

Photo of yellow leaves forming a shape of a leaf

The leaves are falling

The wind is brewing

Winter’s day is on its way

And, my point of reference is you

Rich red

Brilliant pale yellow

Orange speckled

Molting bird feather’s

Conjuring, stirring, blowing and whirring

The crispness hanging on dew drops

Raining, freezing, warming, teasing

Clearing then sunning

The atmosphere’s humming

And, my point of reference is you

Yesterday greeting today

Meeting tomorrow

Memories fading

My senses awakened

By the heavy breathing

of Autumn’s fray

Toe’s biting, crunching

Twig’s snapping, crackling

The moon lighting the haze

of the frigid fall day, early

before the sun come’s out to play

And, my point of reference is you

Newness, freshness

Leaving me breathless

Excitement in discovering

The loving

Never leaving me alone

Chilling to the bone

Forgetting the hills and

Mountains of summer

Warming by the fire

Fall’s only desire

Winter’s day is

on its’ way

And, my point of reference is you

Clearing a path for the white

fallen crest, of the gray

and the frozen breast of the

Sparrow’s tenderness

All inside

Completing, my senses

lighting then receding

Winter’s day

is on its’ way

And, my point of reference is you.
